The Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA) has investigated companies operating in the wild berry market in Finland. Today, 27th May 2026, the FCCA has referred the suspected competition infringement to the Market Court. The alleged infringement concerns the activities in Finland of several companies, including Polarica AB and its subsidiaries, during the time period August 2013 – September 2023, primarily regarding wild berry sourcing. The FCCA proposes a total penalty payment of approximately EUR 6.7 million for Polarica and its subsidiaries for the alleged infringement.
The FCCA’s proposal represents only the authority’s view of the matter and does not in itself constitute evidence of conduct contrary to competition law. The Swedish Competition Authority has investigated a corresponding alleged competition infringement in Sweden and has removed the matter from consideration without further measures.
Polarica denies the FCCA’s claims of an alleged competition infringement as unfounded. Polarica will review the FCCA’s proposal carefully and submit its rejoinder to the Market Court.
