Addressing sustainability challenges, such as minimizing environmental impact and ensuring fair labor practices, is paramount for the berry and fruit industry to thrive.
In keeping with its corporate strategy, Polarica Berry Group is stepping up its sustainability efforts and has recently launched a comprehensive sustainability program to overhaul its operations.
Key measures in the updated strategy, completed at the beginning of 2022, include increasing supply chain transparency, strengthening social responsibility, and striving for carbon neutrality in the Nordic by 2028 and in other operations by 2035.
We have identified the essential sustainability themes for the company's business and set clear targets for the strategy period of 2022–2026, as well as create a concrete action plan to promote different areas.
Polarica's value chain starts with the careful sourcing of high-quality raw materials.
The company prioritizes collaborating with socially responsible and environmentally sustainable suppliers. Polarica is committed to stakeholder recognition and dialogue, working with local associations and authorities to improve operations and increase transparency.
Polarica’s Human Rights Policy is aligned with the UN’s Guiding Principles and applies to everyone and every entity in the company. To ensure compliance with this policy, Polarica conducted a Human Rights Impact Assessment (HRIA) with the help of an external human rights responsibility expert in 2022.
In addition to adherence to the UN Guiding Principles, Polarica's sustainability efforts are also aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 15 (Biodiversity).
